Life is so good

It is amazing how God takes such good care of us. We live our lives to serve Him because we love Him - not to get something out of Him. He knows this so blesses us tremendously.

Here we are - I was laid off March 12 and have not found work yet. My husband owns a construction company - he is a building contractor and work has subsided so much, all he is doing now are small jobs for friends. We are practicing being retired! It could so easily be a time of panic, worry or fret. But we know God takes care of us. We trust Him and he provides our needs. He amazes me and I am so thankful.

Today is Palm Sunday - the day Jesus rode the donkey into Jerusalem - the people knew who He was and waved their palm branches and laid them at His feet. They welcomed Him as their KING of kings, their Saviour.

Each year we commemorate the past Feasts and try our best to give honor to our heritage. We celebrate communion. We will do communion every day leading to Easter - we are the Easter people - we believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe He is alive today and we believe He is God in the flesh. Only God can perform miracles, only God can heal, only God can forgive sins and Jesus did it all.

So this day, this Palm Sunday, we say thank you for coming into our lives. We welcome you and give you our praise. We surrender our lives to you Lord Jesus.

Low Carb Living

This past week I joined a new forum called "Livin' La Vida Low Carb". The folks seem to be pretty friendly and welcoming.

I haven't made any friends yet, but I try to get myself out there. My social skills really suck - I'm missing a key ingredient and that is called "TRUST" and because of that I don't really try that hard to find a friend.

I don't know how to take care of a friendship, or I just don't do it. It's a little like low carb eating, you're supposed to stay away from carbs, drink plenty of water, and get exercise, I know how to do it, but do I do it? I'll answer myself - NO! So in friendships, you should keep in touch, chat about their life and see how they are doing, spend time together. But I don't have time to take care of a friendship and obviously no one has time for me either. So what's wrong with me?

A lady at the Low Carb site told me about a book and work book she had read that helped her "get 'er done" She said "It is just a series of choices, and each good choice we make strengthens that part of us that makes good choices. Each time we deny the voice that urges us to do contrary to our plan, we strengthen its power. There is a book by Dr. Judith Beck called the Beck Diet Solution, and there is also a workbook by the same name. I highly recommend them."

I ordered it.

Something has to get into my head and help me figure out why I don't do what I know I should do. Even Paul said he "struggles against flesh" and does not do what he wants to do, and does what he does not want to do.

This seems to be the link to all of my lifes problems - my weight, my relationships, my life.

This is my first ever "blog". Random thoughts. Wonder what BLOG stands for? I don't know if I have ever heard, and maybe it isn't an acronym.
