Klickitat River, Washington– August, 2009 – Mountain Edges

The weekend of August 15th we went camping on the Klickitat River. We drove west for about 2 hours and ended up heading up a road that had been cut out of the side of a mountain. We traveled up the mountain (right on the edge) then down to the canyon below which holds the Klickitat River. It was a harrowing ride but a beautiful camping spot right on the Klickitat and we heard there were BIG fish in there! The camping spot reminded us a lot of Idaho with the tall evergreens, scrub oaks and mountain cliffs on the other side of the river. Some boaters came down the river and said there was a bear up a tree right around the corner from where we were. They said he was on the other side of the river and I just had to hope and pray bears don’t swim! We didn’t catch any big ones but had a wonderful time in this beautiful state of Washington.
