Richland, Washington – Summer Thursdays
Live at Five ~ We heard that our new credit union (HAPO Community Credit Union) sponsors “Live @ Five” at a park in Richland. They had food concessions, beer, wine and local bands and it happens every Thursday night during the summer. We knew nothing of “beer gardens” so set up our chairs under a nice shady tree near the band. Kery went to get our microbrewery beers and brought them back to our chairs. He had just gotten settled when a nice gentleman told us we couldn’t sit there with our beers, this was a “family” event. He showed us the beer garden where the “drinkers” go. We were only a little embarrassed when we packed up our chairs and headed for the garden. They had picnic tables set up and it was staged under more trees so it wasn’t so bad. We saw some empty chairs at a table so we moseyed on over. It only took a couple of minutes to introduce ourselves to the others couple at the table and learn that they both worked at the site. We became instant friends and chatted with them the rest of the evening. The band was entertaining and I found out the beer in Washington is stronger than the beer in Idaho. I was on my second 12 oz’s and could feel the effects! All in all it was a fun night; we made some new friends and found out I am a pretty cheap date!
